Last Week of School

Summer is almost here! I love when a student completes an assignment and turns it in exclaiming, "Here's my paper... what's my grade now?" Like I have magical presto-chango grading powers. Or there is the typical student who hasn't been seen since the first week of the semester that shows up the last week of semester and whats to know if there is ANYTHING he or she can do to raise their grade. Any teacher, by this time of year is ready to pull their hair out, and the students would probably be more than willing to help them. I'm giving my finals today, tomorrow and then one on Friday. Summer is almost here. Teacher comments about what they are excited for this summer have been cracking me up. The best one so far has been, "I'm just excited to sleep in and not shower."

For me, I love my summer breaks. Its my fourth summer as a teacher and I've done everything between work, to take classes, to drive the tractor. This summer, I'm already relaxed because I'm finally happy with my current job situation. My schedule, location, co-workers, and the general school atmosphere here at Roosevelt allows me to grow as a teacher and coach at UNC. While its not ideal to be a college coach and have a full-time job, I can't complain much. I have a lot of support.

My current plans for this summer are not yet set. I know I'll be moving out of my apartment at the end of June in search of cheaper rent. For sure on my list is some camping, reading, gardening, throws coaching, and of course blogging. If anyone has any fabulous ideas on what to do with my 2 months of free time, I'd love to hear them!

HAPPY SUMMER VACATION to all of those who teach. You deserve the break, it will give you time to perfect your magic grading skills. ;)

School's Out for Summer! You know the song that has been going through my head...One thing you could do during your two months off, is to meet up with me sometime in Greeley to go shopping! Or just for coffee...:)
Love ya,
